CAREER CONCIERGE VIRTUAL DESK - A JEWEL IN RBU'S CROWN

Job hunters have registered a spike in demand for Career Coaching and Resume Writing Services across the US, Canada and the Caribbean. Recruiting by US (RBU), an Atlanta based Career Coaching company has answered to the call.  The company expanded its career coaching portfolio to include Career Concierge, a Virtual Desk Operation that accommodates job hunters needing assistance with on-line job application, job search, job matching, explanation of job description, resume creation, online profile including LinkedIn, posting resumes on job boards and job coaching among many other services.

“Our Career Concierge Virtual Desk which is administered via phone, digital and telecom platforms, have been welcomed by both “techy” and “non-techy” job hunters at various levels from CEO’s to manual laborers” said CEO and Founder Betty Scott in a Press Release last Saturday. Dubbed as “a jewel in RBU’s Career Coaching Crown”, Mrs. Scott furthered that Career Concierge Virtual Desk “allows our team to mine the depths of each layer of barriers that job hunters face (during) their job searching activities and help them to navigate around those barriers. Job hunters face a plethora of barriers and constraints including technological, educational, emotional, ageism, financial, relational and occupational. Some job hunters become very overwhelmed when doing online job applications. Some lack the confidence needed to represent their background to hiring managers. Some do not have a computer and some believe that it’s ok to just apply for every job (in the hope) that something will stick (and) a hiring manager will call them for an interview.”

With strong roots in Canada and the Caribbean, Mrs. Scott and her team at RBU serve both job seekers (seeking to land job opportunities) and hiring managers (seeking to hire the right job applicant for their team). She is super sensitive to the plight of job seekers and goes the extra mile to help college graduates and mature workers. She shared that she recently served a mature CEO who booked her team at RBU’s Career Concierge Virtual Desk to search for jobs in his zip code that matched his background. “We applied for his top 20 jobs (out of the 50 job leads we found). We did the online job application for all 20 jobs, uploaded his (newly crafted resume and cover letter) and provided him with proof of each job application submitted. We also mailed out his resume to 3 companies that we have a very good working relationship with, so that they can review his background for any unadvertised role they may be hiring for. We called 5 overseas companies and marketed his background to their senior executives. 2 of these executives have expressed an interest in his background (especially since he is also open for overseas relocation).”

RBU’s Career Concierge Virtual Desk encourages jobs seekers to “partner with our team to help you put your best job-hunting foot forward. The job-hunting terrain has changed and so we all have to change the way we job hunt and (if at all possible), avoid job hunting alone.”

your resume … don't job hunt without it

You don't go fishing without a fishing rod. You don't leave home without your cellphone and most importantly, you don't job hunt without a well written resume.

A well written resume does not include everything about you. It includes the right things about you. Carefully articulated on a page or two, you would be surprised to know how many doors it can open up for you.

3 Great ways to search for a job

3/4/2019

There are so many ways to search for a job and while the hunt itself may take several twists and turns, you can't go wrong incorporating these 3  strategies.

1. Job Boards.
Post your updated resume on selective job boards
2. Networking.
Tell everyone in your circle. Attend job fairs, join meets up groups in your industry and attend business networking events in your city.
3. Work with at least 2 or 3  Recruiters in your industry.

apply for that job if ...

So you've read the job description and you are having a pretty good feeling about the job.

Go ahead and apply for it if:

1. You understand 80% or more of the job description.

2. You are confident that you have more than 80%  of the experience listed in the job requirement section.

3. You have the educational requirement listed.

understandING the job description

6/30/2018

It's obvious that a lot of job applicants don't really
understand or know how to interpret a job description.

Those who have mastered it, know how to craft their
resume to attract the attention of hiring managers.

Those who don't understand the job description

tend to send a generic resume (which will not
produce much results).

Here are 3 tips to understanding a job description:

1. Look for the "pain points" that the employer is
experiencing. This is normally found in the "job
requirement" section on the job description
.

2. Whenever you see words like "must have", this means
that the employer will not interview any candidate that
does not have that particular skill (in question).

3. If you see the word "preferred", this means that the
employer may consider a candidate who does not have
that particular skill (in question).

You're applying … no one calling

We've heard this more often that we can document it.

You're applying for jobs but not getting called for interviews and you can't seem to put your finger on the reason or reasons why this is happening.
Here are some reasons:

1. You are applying for jobs but your resume is not reflecting any similarity to the job description.

2. You do not (fully) understand the job description so you simply just take a chance (by applying) then hope for the best.

3. Red flags on your resume. These may include gaps in employment history, short time spent at previous employers, conflicting dates, spelling and grammatical errors.

4. You forgot to put your telephone number on your resume or you have listed an incorrect telephone number.

5. Your voicemail box is full (and) not accepting any messages.

2 page resume is best says... hiring managers

Recruiting by Us ... our talk with a hiring manager about the length of your resume

Just got off the phone with a hiring manager who shared with me why he prefers a 2 page resume. Here are his reasons:

1. Candidates who have excellent communication skills are able to articulate themselves very well (within 2 pages). We are "looking for a well written 2 page resume, not a book."

2. If candidates believe that they are unable to showcase their background within a 2 page resume, they should still send us a 2 page resume (with a link that opens up into a more detailed resume) or have a footnote stating "Detailed resume is available upon request."

3. My attention span is short and I have a business to run. No time to be reading a 4 - 10 page resume.

4. Other applicants are sending in a 2 page resume so I refuse to make allowance for an applicant who sends me a 4 - 10 page resume.

5. I am only interested in "what they have done for the past 10 years, not the past 20 years."
